how still we see the light

above the deep and dreamless sleep

silent stars go by

yet in the dark street shineth

the everlasting light

the hopes the fears in all the years

are met in the tonight



for christ is born and mary

gathered all above while mortals sleep the angels keep in watch from above the watch of wonderous love

proclaim the holy birth



to claim the holy birth

and peace to men on earth

wonderous gift is given
