The grass is red, the grass is red

Red with the blood that was shed

Shed by men who now are dead

Fighting the grass is red.



The ground is a bed

A bed for soldiers to lay their heads

Heads that should have been used

For peace instead of fighting, fighting.



Time and people go on

But our fathers and brothers are gone

And until children are taught

The meaning of the word friends.



The grass will be red again

The grass was made green

And land, land was born to live in peace
