Every Little Gesture

What was I thinking of

Making those eyes wet and weary

What was I doing with her photograph

Stapled upon my chest

Trying to look dignified

As we pick up our clothes from the floor

I said that I've changed my mind

Don't want to wait and see anymore

Told a little truth

About the way she was feeling

She was pulling out the loose threat on her nylon skirt

She was eating far too much chocolate

And every time she said she really didn't mind

She was biting her bottom lip

Both of us trying to not get upset

Both of us being polite



I spent all night trying to tell her

This was not what I meant at all

And I was never untrue to you.?
