Lyrics for Song: Almohada
Lyrics for Album: Almohada
Ahora, Tita, que tе vuelvo a ver (Ahora, Tita)
Haz tu vida, no me moleste'
Coge carretera, vamo')
Mano' pa'rriba ahí
¿Y cómo dice?
¿Qué? ¿Qué?

Almohada
The empty bed in “Almohada” is less a monument to heartbreak than a stage for the narrator’s wounded pride. The song opens with a clean dismissal: leave without another speech, take your pride with you, and spare me the revisionist explanation. Then the lyric gives away how much remains unresolved. The absent partner’s kisses, declarations of love and messages still have a vivid place in memory, and the pillow becomes the plain, almost comic witness to what is missing. That image could sustain a conventional lament, but the song keeps changing emotional gears. Its recollection of intimacy is cheeky and deliberately explicit; when the former lover reappears, the narrator turns the reunion into a two-part punchline: I knew you would come back, and you can leave again. The bravado is fun, but it is also transparently defensive. Someone who has truly moved on would not need to rehearse the terms of the breakup so insistently. The song’s humor lets hurt speak without granting it the dignity of a solemn ballad. Gente de Zona, the Cuban duo, join El Metaliko on a track listed with the group’s *Reparto* material. The title means “pillow,” a domestic object that makes the song’s post-breakup loneliness concrete, while its colloquial Spanish and conversational interjections give the scene the feel of a story told among friends. The release has little substantial independent song criticism to draw on, so it is better not to invent a public consensus around it. What the lyric itself supplies is enough: a compact performance of rejection, sexual memory and swagger, with the pillow left to hold the silence after the jokes run out. |
