A harmony imagined inside the silence
Silente’s “Terca na tišinu” (“A Third to the Silence”) uses a musical interval as a metaphor for intimacy: add a harmony to silence, and two people can create something that neither could make alone. The song’s romantic language is poetic rather than literal, imagining closeness through contrasts and small details. Its central idea is not that silence means nothing, but that quiet can hold a connection too delicate for ordinary declarations. That imagery helps distinguish the track from a conventional breakup or love-song narrative. Released as Silente’s breakthrough single in 2013, “Terca na tišinu” appeared on the Dubrovnik band’s debut album *Lovac na čudesa*. Sanin Karamehmedović wrote the lyrics, and his brother Tibor composed the music. Producer Nikša Bratoš helped shape the band’s pop-rock sound, balancing the song’s literary writing with a clear, memorable arrangement. The track introduced a group whose identity rested on thoughtful songwriting and melodic rock rather than the conventions of electronic pop. The single became one of Croatia’s most-played songs of 2013 and helped establish Silente nationally; reports place it among the top entries on the country’s radio chart. The album followed in October, and the band later received the Porin award for Best New Artist. The song’s continued place in Silente’s catalog and strong online circulation confirm its lasting audience, even though precise current chart positions are irrelevant to its original success. “Terca na tišinu” remains a persuasive example of a literary lyric finding a broad radio audience without losing its distinctive image. |
