Andjele cuvaru

Andjele cuvaru mili
svojom snagom me zakrili
prema bozjem obecanju
cuvaj mene nocu, danju

Osobito pak me brani
da mi dusu grijeh ne rani
jer kad s ovog svijeta podjem
da u nebo sretno dodjem

Da se ondje s tobom mogu
vjecno klanjat dragom Bogu

Svijet od Boga napusten
majko, ja sam napusen
ulicama lutam
trazec svoga puta

Mladost moga plemena
ganja snove mrtvog vremena
u koga da se ugledam
ideal mi je potrgan

Majko draga
jesi l' me rodila da budem rob
oce, djede
gdje ce meni biti grob

Suh k'o list
a vjetar se dize
ja mlad i jak
a ipak jedva gmizem

Ulicama lutam
gladan, bez kaputa
ulicama lutam
trazec' svoga puta

Andjele cuvaru

The familiar prayer to a guardian angel appears first in its traditional, childlike form, asking for protection by day and night and safe passage into heaven. Then the lyric pivots sharply: the speaker calls himself abandoned by God and mother, drifting through streets and searching for a way forward. The inherited words of faith remain, but the speaker’s lived world no longer resembles their promised shelter.

That juxtaposition is the song’s central wound. A prayer usually moves from vulnerability toward reassurance; here, it leads into damaged ideals, a generation chasing the dreams of a dead era and finding no one to emulate. The sacred text becomes a measure of what is missing, rather than a guarantee that help will come. The entry provides no external commentary establishing an autobiographical or political reading, and no independent track review was located. It is safer to hear the song as a confrontation between inherited consolation and contemporary abandonment. M.O.R.T. lets the old prayer survive, but surrounds it with a world in which the speaker is still looking for a path without knowing who can show it.

The juxtaposition of a traditional prayer with a contemporary confession of abandonment gives the song a quality associated with the modern rock lament: inherited language is kept, but its promise of comfort is tested against present experience. The opening prayer speaks of protection and salvation; the verses that follow describe a young person who cannot find a model or a path. The lyric does not reject faith so much as expose the distance between its words and the speaker’s circumstances. That gap supplies the drama, allowing an old devotional text to become a new expression of loneliness.
