Sretno ti vencanje sejo mila
sreca ti je vrata otvorila
meni suze krenuse niz lice
udajes se moja lepotice

Ne zameri sestro moja
sto mi suza obraz kvasi
u haljini sejo beloj
sanas bratu najlepsa si

Kad te budem izveo iz kuce
moje srce od bola prepuce
kol'ko bola toliko i srece
moje srce izdrzati nece

Cini mi se preziveti necu
sada svati iz avlije krecu
ti si bila ponos nasem rodu
budi ponos u novome domu

Sestrino vencanje

“Sestrino venčanje” (“My Sister’s Wedding”) places joy and grief at the same table. The singer congratulates his sister as she begins a new life, yet tears keep running down his face as he watches her in a white dress. The wedding is not framed as a loss exactly, but as a change so large that even happiness hurts. A brother has to let go of the role he played in her everyday life while celebrating the person she is becoming.

The song’s perspective is unusual in a genre more often centered on romantic couples. Here, love is familial, protective and proud. The narrator asks his sister not to blame him for crying, acknowledging that his tears are not a rejection of her marriage but a measure of how much she matters. The festive setting makes the emotion public: a wedding is a place where people are expected to be happy, and the song gives grief permission to sit beside the celebration.

Marko Mitrović Buraz’s ballad turns a familiar family milestone into a tender scene of transition. No substantial independent criticism of the track surfaced, so I won’t claim a broader response. “Sestrino venčanje” is moving because it does not ask the brother to hide his sadness in order to bless his sister’s future. The love that makes him cry is the same love that lets her go.
