I Hate People

Lord Of The Lost / Wednesday 13 · I Hate People

I hate people being told what they are, they don't choose
I hate people being silenced by outsiders abuse
I hate people fearing death for expressing their views
I hate people
I hate people
I hate people being told who they love is a sin
I hate people being oppressed with no freedom to think
I hate people feeling forced to collude in the spin
I hate people
I hate people
We never ever have to pick a side
(I hate people)
We never have to be somebody else
(I hate people)
The one and only thing that's ever right
Whatever they tell be true to yourself
I hate people
I hate people
I hate, I hate, I hate people
I hate people
I hate, I hate, I hate people
(I hate people)
I hate people telling me what to do to conform
I hate people making martyrs from the day they were born
I hate people waging wars as the innocent mourn
I hate people
I fucking hate people
I hate people forcing torture for the crime of a kiss
I hate people telling me that some colours can't mix
I hate people being threatened by the truth on their lips
I hate people
I fucking hate people
We never ever have to pick a side
(I hate people)
We never have to be somebody else
(I hate people)
The one and only thing that's ever right
Whatever they tell be true to yourself
I hate people
I hate people
I hate, I hate, I hate people
I hate people
I hate, I hate, I hate people
I'm part of 'people' as well
Should I turn this hate upon myself?
I'm so sorry for the times I imposed my will
The hand that you've been dealt
And how it must have felt
Sorry
I hate people
I hate people
I hate people
I hate, I hate, I hate people
I hate people
I hate, I hate, I hate people
We never ever have to pick a side
(I hate people)
We never have to be somebody else
(I hate people)
The one and only thing that's ever right
Whatever they tell be true to yourself
I hate people
I hate, I hate, I hate people

I Hate People

The bluntness of “I Hate People” is a deliberate misdirection. Its title sounds like a misanthropic sneer, but the lyric is aimed at the systems and voices that dictate who someone may be, love or believe. It names coercion and censorship rather than ordinary social irritation, then turns its slogan into a defense of self-determination. The repeated phrase is provocative partly because it hides a more earnest plea inside it: stop making other people’s lives a referendum on your authority.

The song’s most interesting move is its rejection of forced allegiance. It insists that people should not have to choose a side or become someone else to satisfy a faction. That sounds like a universal appeal to authenticity, but the verses anchor it in specific forms of exclusion—being told that one’s identity or love is sinful, or being silenced by outsiders. The lyric’s broad language can flatten distinct struggles into a single chant, yet its anger also gives that generality force. The refrain makes solidarity noisy, not polite.

Lord of the Lost and Wednesday 13 bring different theatrical strains of gothic metal to the collaboration. Louder included the track among notable new metal songs, but that roundup is not a measure of public consensus. What the song offers is a plain moral position delivered with maximal bluntness: no one should be compelled to disguise the self to be accepted. Its simplicity is both its strength and its limitation. The slogan lands immediately; the harder work of understanding people beyond the slogan remains with the listener.
