Nunca había visto a nadie igual (Nadie igual)
¡Uh-juh, uh-juh!, ¡Uh-juh, uh-juh!

Fito Páez’s “Cuando el circo llega al pueblo” begins as a town-wide disturbance: the circus arrives, the people tremble, and a megaphone wakes Jimmy. Behind the curtain he sees Loka, and the song leaps from spectacle into romance. Gibson guitars seem to move by telekinesis; Loka repels knives thrown by her father; the names MalDivina and Turbia Luz sound like characters from a dream that has its own rules.
The circus is both setting and engine. Its arrival makes the ordinary world porous, allowing the characters to become extraordinary. Jimmy and Loka’s powers pull in opposite directions, turning difference into part of the song’s romantic wonder. Against the surreal episodes, the refrain is strikingly direct: each lover announces that the other has finally arrived in their life.
That contrast keeps the lyric from becoming a list of whimsical effects. The declarations of love provide a simple thread through the fantasy, while the circus makes the romance feel large enough to transform a whole town. Curtains, spectacle and action also give the song a theatrical quality; it sounds like a scene within a larger story rather than a self-contained confession.
Its closing ellipsis is both formal joke and invitation. The song explicitly leaves the story hanging, as if the performance continues after the record stops. On Páez’s 2025 album Novela, these named characters and narrative gestures fit naturally within a larger fictional frame. The song’s charm lies in that scale: a love story staged beneath the big top, with a town watching the impossible begin.
