Dino Merlin · DOĐI (FEAT. SENIDAH)

Ne znam biti sam, ne volim to
Brzo krenu crne misli
Sumnje i strah, sve te nevolje
Što se nikad nisu ni dogodile
Sumnje i strah, sve te nevolje
Što se nikad nisu ni dogodile
Dođi, dođi, dođi, dođi
Dođi, dođi, dođi, dođi
Dođi, dođi, dođi
Samo dođi
Dođi, dođi, dođi, dođi
Dođi, dođi, dođi, dođi
Dođi, dođi, dođi
Samo dođi
Ne znam biti sama, ne volim kad
Krenu sjećanja što lome srce
Ponoć i ti, nered ulice
Sjena kojom sakrio si lice

Dođi (Feat. Senidah)

When Dino Merlin and Senidah finally released "Do?i" on New Year's Day 2021, the collaboration had already been rumoured for nearly a year. The Bosnian singer-songwriter and the Slovenian vocalist had been linked since the 2020 Music Awards Ceremony, when Senidah denied the pairing on the red carpet, and again months later when reports surfaced of a video shoot in Istanbul that she insisted had never happened. The truth, as it turned out, was more grounded: the clip was filmed in Sarajevo and the mountain village of Lukomir, directed by Slovenian visual artist Kukla, and it arrived during the last hours of 2020, premiered inside Merlin's virtual New Year's Eve concert.

The song itself is a slow-burning folk-pop ballad with a world-music pulse, arranged by Adis Sirbubalo and built around a repeated, almost hypnotic refrain. Merlin wrote it alone, and he has been candid about where it came from. After the exhausting Hotel Nacional Tour, he said, he tried to find peace in a big city, running from everyone else, only to discover that he did not know how to be alone. That confession sits at the centre of the lyric: "Ne znam biti sam, ne volim to" ? "I can't be alone, I don't like that." The verses trace the spiral of dark thoughts, doubt and fear, while the chorus turns into a plea for someone to come and stay when the avalanche of pain begins.

Senidah, who has spoken openly about idolising Merlin, described the duet as a dream come true. "My heart is full when I listen to our voices together," she said, adding that the collaboration proved to her that what she wants with her entire being is possible. Their voices do complement each other unusually well: Merlin's weathered warmth against Senidah's cool, precise delivery gives the song a tension that keeps it from settling into easy sentiment.

The reception was strong from the start. The music video passed 200,000 views within two hours of its premiere, and the track later won Best Duet at the Jana Story Hall of Fame in 2022. Vogue Adria's Tara ?uki? wrote in 2025 that "Do?i" was "more a confirmation than a turning point" for Senidah, while Oslobo?enje later named it one of eight Merlin duets that marked the regional music scene, praising the way it combined different musical styles and generations. It also reached number 22 on Croatia's domestic airplay chart.

As a listener, what stays with me is how the song manages to feel both intimate and vast. The Istanbul Strings and the oud give it a cinematic texture, but the emotional core is small and personal: one person, alone in a strange city, asking someone to come. The repetition of "Do?i" in the chorus could easily become tiresome, and one commenter on ESC Covers did find it too repetitive, but in context it works as a kind of mantra, the way a person repeats a name to keep themselves anchored. It is not a flashy duet, but it is a convincing one, and it proved that two very different voices from the region could meet in the middle without losing what makes them distinct.
