Romeo In Julija (2021)

Flirrt · Romeo In Julija (2021)

Sama si v sobi, pozno je
Za mene in za tebe ti vseeno je
Nisem Romeo in ti nisi moja Julija

Nisem Romeo in nisi Julija
Ce je kje Bog, naj stopi dol z neba
Naj odkrije in razbije še tvoj del sveta
Ubila si mi del srca

Tebi in za vedno dajem lahko noc
Umiram, ko te cakam, umiram ko greš proc
Koga si želela, koga si cakala, da ti da
Oktobrske vecere, noci, ki jih še ne poznaš

A twentieth-anniversary romance renewed

Flirrt’s “Romeo in Julija (2021)” revisits a song that had already become part of the Slovenian pop landscape, recasting it for the original’s twentieth anniversary. The title invokes Shakespeare’s lovers, but the song’s emotional center is less tragic grandeur than the imperfect, contemporary experience of wanting someone who may not feel the same way. The anniversary version keeps that romantic tension while giving the familiar song a refreshed sound for listeners encountering it in a new decade.

Released in April 2021, this version features a new arrangement and additional musicians, including violinist Marko Ramljak and guitarist Robert Pikl. Rok Lunaček wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the music with Luka Vunduk; Krešimir Tomec handled arrangement and production. The official video accompanied the re-release and presented the song not as a simple archival upload but as a deliberate reinterpretation. Flirrt used the occasion to connect two eras of the band’s audience, revisiting a hit while making a current recording.

The anniversary release made a strong domestic impact: contemporary Slovenian coverage reported it as the highest new entry on Slo Top 50, among the most-played Slovenian songs on radio that week, and in the local YouTube trending Top 10. Those are specific national and platform results, not a claim about international chart performance. The reception showed that the song’s original emotional premise had not aged out of relevance. “Romeo in Julija (2021)” works both as a new recording and as a reminder of how a local pop song can become a shared reference across generations.
